Crowns or Caps
What are crowns and caps?
A Crown or Cap is required to protect a sensitive tooth that has been damaged, decayed, fractured or contain a old large filling. With a Crown, it protects the rest of the tooth structure and provides a more natural looking smile. The material of the crown can be either full porcelain, metal or a combination of the two. The colour of the crown will also match the natural colour of your teeth, so it is visibly undetectable.
What is the process like?
Putting a Crown on usually takes two visits. The first visit, the tooth is prepared and shaped to fit the crown and a mold is taken. A temporary crown may be placed in your initial visit.
One your 2nd visit, the temporary crown is removed and replaced by the permanent crown.
Anesthetic will be applied during the procedure making it no more painful than a filling.
